Our Why

Ever notice there’s only one tiny window to wash your bin—right after it’s emptied, but before it’s full again? We realised Dunedin deserved an easy, kerbside solution to stinky bins… so Bin Blast was born! Now, nobody has to scrub bins by hand or put up with gross odors ever again.

The Problem & Solution

Dirty wheelie bins aren’t just smelly—they can harbor bacteria, insects, and downright nastiness. It’s a chore everyone dreads, but it’s also the last thing on the to-do list.

Since launching in November 2024, we’ve helped transform hundreds of bins from Brighton to Port Chalmers. The result? Customers get that “just-like-new” feeling every time they open their bins—fresh, bacteria-free, and totally odorless.

The Truck

Our custom-built truck (proudly designed and assembled right here in Ōtepoti) is a Fuso Canter 616 cab and chassis armed with two bespoke cleaning heads and a water-blasting system that hits 3000 PSI—at 70°C! That means every bin gets a super-hot, high-pressure wash, free from harsh chemicals. Best of all, we collect and responsibly dispose of the wastewater, so your property stays squeaky clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • BIN BLAST can clean any plastic wheelie bin ranging in size from 140L - 1100L. Call 0800 BIN BLAST or email wash@binblast.co.nz for commercial rates.

  • Changes in bin emptying routes can sometimes affect cleaning schedules. If your bin is not clean, leave it out overnight and your bin will be cleaned the next day. We’ll contact you if we’re unable to clean your bin on your regular collection day.

  • Contact wash@binblast.co.nz and let us know when you’d like your bin cleaned.

  • Yes! If you'd like to pay for a 12-month subscription in a lump sum please email wash@binblast.co.nz and we'll share an invoice for a full year payment.

  • No, if you’d like more bins to be cleaned, please add them as additional bins when purchasing a subscription - only $10 per additional bin, per visit! If you have already purchased a subscription and now wish to add additional bins, please email wash@binblast.co.nz and let us know which additional bins you'd like to add.
